Celebrating the Legendary Personality - Vishal

The seed was sown on the day of a remarkable fete of 150th Arangetram done  on 26th August, 2012, by Smt. Vishalam Ramani, affectionately called and known to many as “Vishal”. It was by the friend Raja who suggested that this blog be created and let many to share their experiences of their individual journeys. So, here it is folks! Please feel free to use your best writing skills to put forth your experiences, thoughts in this blog. Send it to me. Let’s create this for posterity.

It is indeed no ordinary milestone. Not many have done this accomplishment with her impeccable drive, zeal, enthusiasm and commitment and above of the love for teaching this art form to anybody who endeavors to take on the rigors required of it.

I am going to ask Raja to send a mail to anyone who wants to contribute in terms of articles, poems, photos and other forms of imagery to add to this blog. I think this is the best tribute to pay to a great artist and above all a fine human being.

OK, Here is what I wrote about Vishal to be read on the day. This poetic expression is in Tamil, (I will post the translation in English Pretty soon, in the same blog) and does not do justice to all my pleasant memories of my co-journey with Vishalji. I will recollect and write a lot of my personal interactions, experiences with Vishalji over the next days.

விஷால் என்னும் வியப்பு

கண்களிலே களிப்புடனே நீர்சோரும் நேரம்-இரு

கண்களைஎன் கவிதையிலே போற்றும்பொன் நேரமிது

எண்ணங்கள் பின்னோக்கி அசைபோட்டு நடக்கையிலே

எண்ணிலாத அதிசயங்கள், ககனமென்னும் பெருவெளியில்

 கற்பனைக்கு அடங்காது விரிந்துசெல்லும் விந்தைபோல

விரிசடையன் ஆடுகின்ற கூத்தினையார் விளங்கிடுவார்?

விரிவிழியாள் அவள்கருணை விரித்திடயார் மொழிதருவார்?

பெயர்விசேடம் குணவிசாலம் பரதக்கலைக் கிவள்ஆலம்

உயர்பொருளின் உருவகமாய் உலவுகின்றாள் எந்நாளும் 

கடைக்கண்ணில் பசியாற்றும் மீனாட்சி போல்கருணை

எடைபோட்டுப் பார்த்தாலும் எண்ணுதற்கு மடங்காதே!

சுறுசுறுப்பில் தேனியெனச் சொல்வதெல்லாம் சுத்தப்பொய்!

இறுமாப்பில் சொல்லவில்லை இதயத்தின் வார்த்தையிது. 

சூரியனும் சிலநாட்கள் சோம்பலிலே விழிப்பதில்லை

சுணக்கத்தில் ஒருநாளும் தூங்கியிவள் கழித்ததில்லை

இத்தனைநான் சொன்னபின்னும் இன்னுமென்ன கேள்விக்குறி?

இமைமூடிப் பார்க்கையிலே இவள்வாழ்க்கை வியப்புக்குறி!

மூவைந்துப் பத்துமுறை முதல்மேடை அரங்கேற்றம்

முல்லையரும் பாய்பெண்கள் நாட்டியத்தில் நல்தேற்றம்

குருவென்னும் சொல்லுக்குக் குறியீடே இவள்பணியாம்

திருவென்னும் க்ருபைவந்து  சேர்ந்ததுவாம் இவளணியாய்!

ஆடலய்யன் கூட்டுவித்த ஆட்டுவிக்கும் உயர்பணியை

ஈடுஇணை இல்லாமல் இமைப்பொழுது சோராமல்

இன்னும்பல ஆண்டுகள்நீ இவ்வுலகில் செய்திடவென்

பொன்னம்பல வாணனையான் போற்றியிங்கு வணங்குகிறேன்
